The art of basketry shares lots of resemblances with the art of hair braiding. As a matter of fact all of these deals with interweaving and interlacing respectively.

Also it shares common culture with the popular Kente cloth weaving style and even the translation of the word “Basket” into the popular language of the people of Ghana;Twi. They translate Basket as “Kenten”. This word was borrowed by the creators of “Kente”.

At the baketry, the basketmaker uses canes and weaves them into a basket or even advanced version as furniture.
