The Premier League is the most popular league in the world and yet, when it comes to Ballon d’Or winners, they stand way behind the other competitions in Europe. Indeed, the last 11 winners of the individual honours were all La Liga players.
The last time a player from the Premier League won the Ballon d’Or was Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United. Since then, Real Madrid and Barcelona players have been the only ones to lay their hands on the biggest individual prize in the world.
This run will eventually end and here are five players from the Premier League that can win the Ballon d’Or…

Van Dijk was also declared the UEFA Player of the Year and has a strong case to win the Ballon d’Or this year. Knowing how good his team is, and how important he is for both club and country, he should be one of the top names to win the award in the next few years.
4. Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian has taken himself to another level with the Reds and could, in the future, win the Ballon d’Or for his relentless goalscoring abilities. He has to do better than how he is doing now, though, as he has ‘only’ four goals from seven league games.
3. Sadio Mane
Another African player who has the chance to win the prestigious honour in the future, Sadio Mane, for many Reds fans, is the best player at the club right now, The Senegal star has the ability to force the issue from the left and his goalscoring has also improved in the last couple of years.
He, like Salah, has four goals from seven league matches for Liverpool so far this season and should he be able to help them to multiple trophies this season, there is a chance for him to win the Ballon d’Or next year…Continue Reading
