La Liga president Javier Tebas has admitted that he would love to see Cristiano Ronaldoand Jose Mourinho return to Spanish football.
Ronaldo and Mourinho both boast strong ties to La Liga giants Real Madrid but are no longer plying their trade in Spain.
Portugal forward Ronaldo is the Spanish club’s all-time top scorer with 451 goals in all competitions and won two La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies with them.
He called time on his glittering spell at the Bernabeu last summer to join Juventus but is still remembered fondly in the Spanish capital.
Mourinho, who divides fans’ opinion in Madrid, spent three years as the Bernabeu manager where he won one league title – but he is currently out of work after being sacked by Manchester United last December.
And although the pair have different standings among the Madrid fans, Tebas says he would welcome both iconic figures back to Spain.
He told Canal 11 : “I would like to have Cristiano Ronaldo back and for Jose Mourinho to be coaching a Spanish team.
He’s a great coach and a great name to promote our league.”
Despite being disappointed at seeing Ronaldo quit Spain for Italy, Tebas admitted that the Portugal’s departure hasn’t hindered the global appeal of La Liga.
