Kevin Hart has sustained ‘major back injuries’ in a horror car accident in Los Angeles in the early hours of Sunday morning, it has been reported.
The 40-year-old US comedian was passenger in a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when the driver is said to have lost control of the vehicle which tumbled down an embankment in the Malibu Hills.
Dad-of-three Hart was initially well enough to reach his home for medical attention, reports CHP, but he was later taken to Northbridge Hospital Medical Centre for treatment.
According to CNN, both Hart and the driver, Jared Black sustained ‘major back injuries
Kevin is now understood to have undergone back surgery on Sunday night. A separate source also told TMZ that Kevin will be remaining in hospital for at least a couple of days while he recovers.
While sources close to the US star, told The Blast that doctors are said to be optimistic he will make a full recovery.
Police told TMZ that driver Black, 28, was found pinned in his seat under the crushed roof of the car.
The US site claims that the fire department had to saw the roof off to free the occupants.
Hart’s vehcle is said to have veered off the winding road on the Mulholland Highway before smashing through a wooden fence and ending in a ditch.
Officers determined that Black was not under the influence of alcohol in the car.
A third occupant did not suffer injuries
Back in July, Kevin Hart posted to a picture of the 720bhp muscle motor – he named Menance – to Instagram , telling fans it was a present to himself for his 40th birthday.
