Love Island finalists receive heroes’ welcome and get mobbed by fans on return to UK

The Love Island finalists returned to overwhelming support as they touched down on UK soil today.

Arriving at London’s Stansted Airport, the final four couples were mobbed by screaming fans as they made their way through departures.

Many had turned out to greet this years stars with huge banners and balloons and clambered to get hugs and pictures with the islanders.

Winners Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea were the first to emerge to huge cheers from the crowd and looked genuinely shocked by the reaction

Amber held her hand to her mouth in shock as her newly exclusive boyfriend Greg wrapped a protective arm around her.

Greg was immediately grabbed by a friend in the crowd who hugged the Irish man’s neck.

Security guards at the airport were even seen attempting to hold back excited fans as they swarmed to get close to this year’s star.

Runners up Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury followed closely behind the winners hand in hand as they took in the dramatic scenes.

Some of their family stood clutching a banner for the couple and had customised t-shirts of Molly-Mae’s face made.

There was also many ‘Welcome Home Maura’ signs for grid girl Maura Higgins.

Some of her cheeky relatives even sported t-shirts wearing the phrase ‘fanny flutters’ in homage to her favourite catchphrase.

While Ovie Soko and India Reynolds’ families joined forces for their tribute.

They held up cards reading ‘Tea Ovia’ as the duo stepped off the plane.

For the last two months the islanders have been locked up in ITV’s rented luxury Majorcan villa for filming with no contact from the outside world.

This year’s castmates have emerged as huge stars with record numbers of people tuning in to watch the series.

A record 3.63 million saw Amber and Greg be crowned the surprise winners on Monday night’s live final.

The figures were up from the 2018 climax in which Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham were awarded the top prize.

This year the most viewed episode was Amber’s explosive return from Casa Amor as she discovered her partner Michael had moved on with someone else – which broke the six million barrier…Continue Reading
