A teenage girl decided to “play dead” after being stabbed through the neck with a kitchen knife by her mentally ill brother.
Zak Ferraby “booted” open his 15-year-old sister’s door which had been bolted shut, and barged his way in with a black-handled kitchen knife on the morning of December 10, 2017.
He “looked really mad”, his sister later said, as he started attacking her with a six-inch blade, Hull Live reports
Richard Woolfall, prosecuting, told the jury of nine women and three men: “She tried to get to the knife and got some injuries to her right arm, and he was jabbing the knife towards her.”
Ferraby grabbed the pillow to put it over his sister’s face at one point, and told her: “I’m going to kill you,”.
Mr Woolfall said: “She gave up after a time because she had received some injuries. He said something along the lines of ‘Mum’s not going to love you when you’re dead’.
“It was at that point he did the crucial act. He stabbed her in the throat. She felt the blade digging in, she said. She even felt it go through and out of her neck.
“She decided her way of dealing with that was to play dead, thinking he would leave her alone, so she stayed still.
