Tina Malone swerves jail for unmasking James Bulger’s killer Jon Venables

Tina Malone has been handed an eight-month prison sentence suspended for two years after sharing a picture of Jon Venables as an adult.

She must also pay £10,000 in legal costs, Lord Chief Justice Lord Burnett told her.

The ex-Shameless star appeared emotional in court this morning when she tearfully admitted she knew James Bulger killer Venables had a life-long anonymity order preventing anyone from releasing information about his new identity.

She blamed the stress of a mental breakdown and financial problems for breaching the injunction.

“I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was 28, although it was called manic depression then. I have felt like I have had it since I was seven or eight,” Malone told the High Court.Continue Reading
